    SIG Secretary Job Description

    REPORTS TO: 
    Special Interest Group (SIG) Chair

    POSITION SUMMARY: 
    The SIG Secretary assists the SIG Chair in the performance of all duties as assigned.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES: 
    See job descriptions for SIG Education Chair and SIG Enhancements Chair.

    1. Assists the Committee Chair in managing the functions of the Committee as directed and within budget as applicable.
    2. Completion of work within established deadlines.
    3. Attends no less than 80% of the meetings of the Committee.

    ROLE EXPECTATIONS:
    The role of the SIG Chair may vary from SIG to SIG, but the accountabilities remain.  In collaboration with their Council Chair, each SIG shall determine the positions necessary to fulfill these roles.  Smaller SIGs may have only a SIG Chair. Promotes the value and offerings of InSight to current members and prospective members.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Able to commit the time required for the term of office.
    2. Able to attend the Annual Conference.
    3. Must be an individual member, as defined in the bylaws.
    4. Must have demonstrated an active interest in the purposes and goals of the Corporation.
    5. Must have the backing of his/her employer institution and have access to the Internet with e-mail.
    6. Must be able to perform the duties of the office.

    TERM OF OFFICE: 
    One year beginning on January 1 of the calendar year after he or she is elected to the position. This position may be re-elected by the SIG and is renewable for one-year terms.
