InSight 2007 Annual Conference
The InSight 2007 Annual Conference took place October 17-20 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Thousands of registrants took advantage of three days of education, product demonstrations and networking.
InSight acknowledges the extraordinary efforts of everyone who contributed to our phenomenal event. InSight would like to take this opportunity to thank every Volunteer, member of the Board of Directors, Headquarters Staff and all of the attendees that celebrated our successes and achievements at our annual conference in Atlanta.
General Session Highlights
At the InSight 2007 Annual Conference, held in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, thousands of customers, supporting solution-providers, and McKesson representatives all gathered in one location to exchange on the issues of most importance to us and our teams.
Topics crossed over McKesson systems—both current and future. Those customers with a need for business-focused or technical education were afforded the opportunity to tailor their curriculum based on their area of interest.
Not only did the event draw customers for exchange on leading practices around the McKesson products they’re using, this year, through recent McKesson acquisitions, RelayHealth, ANSOS One-Staff and ORSOS One-Call customers joined our circle at this year’s conference.
For the second year in a row more than 50 CIOs joined this year’s enhanced CIO Forum. Designed by CIOs, for CIOs, the forum combined true best practices from peers that have applied, or are about to apply, strategies within their own environments, and brought McKesson top leaders into the fold so our CIOs could stay current and tapped into the direction of McKesson. Through McKesson executive-led sessions, the forum provided updates and roadmaps from McKesson, and customer roundtables focused on critical strategic business issues.
The main event kicked off with Pam Pure, President of McKesson Provider Technologies, who provided an overview of McKesson, along with plans for the future. In a memorable closing, Pam ended with a promise to the healthcare community that McKesson Provider Technologies, in partnership with InSight, will continue providing products that support hospitals’ and facilities’ ongoing efforts to improve patient care through improved efficiencies.
Following Pam’s address, Sunny Sanyal, COO of McKesson Provider Technologies, shared customer success stories, capped with a video on this year’s McKesson Award Winners.
InSight’s own Member Achievement Award, defined as outstanding members of InSight, was announced by InSight Vice President of Education, Amy Thorpe who presented the Award to Jenna Bowser, Senior Application Analyst of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Milwaukee.
Finally, Lisa [Utley] Lavallee presented the Tom Utley Award, an award created to forever recognize the memory of Tom Utley and his many contributions to InSight, to a very well deserved Lou Hermans, Vice President and CIO for Solaris Health System.
Other event highlights included Pre-Conference Workshops, which took place prior to the main event and gave attendees more hands-on education on business-relevant topics, the Product Solution Center which showcased McKesson-supporting products and experts, the Friday Night Event appropriately themed “Oktoberfest,” networking receptions organized by areas of interest, product line updates, volunteer meetings and a number of other opportunities for networking and relaxation with old and new friends.
Education & Program Highlights
In 2007, Annual Conference attendees were once again experienced a variety of unique and informative educational opportunities. With over 360 sessions to choose from, InSight members were provided a wealth of knowledge, including product updates directly from McKesson executives, best practices from follow InSight members and everyday tips and tricks that could be implemented immediately upon return to their facility. InSight welcomed several new audiences to this year’s conference by providing education for SUMMIT, Relay Health, Per Se ORSOS – One Call and Per Se ANSOS One-Staff. McKesson VIP award winners were also invited to share their case studies with the members of InSight. Feedback shows that the 2007 educational program is among the strongest in several years. InSight would like to thank all the speakers and volunteer leaders for the hundreds of hours they dedicated to the success of the InSight 2007 Annual Conference.
The CIO Forum at the InSight 2007 Annual Conference
The 2007 CIO Forum was a unique event designed specifically for CIOs, by CIOs. Taking place Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18, it offered over 50 CIOs and top IT executives access to one another and to McKesson leaders for the betterment of businesses and professions.
The CIO Forum delivered true best practices from peers that have applied or are about to apply strategies within their own environments by offering several roundtable discussions hosted by InSight’s Strategic Partners Cisco, Dell, Intel and Oracle.
Equally as important as the roundtables, the CIO Forum brought McKesson top leaders into the fold to keep attendees tapped into the direction of McKesson, allowing participants of the event to better leverage the technology investments in their organizations. A special thanks to the CIO Task Force for their commitment to this endeavor: Janet Stanek, Chuck Christian, Sandy Ott, Rick Warren, Dave Walczak and Howard Fisher.
Product Solution Center (PSC) Highlights
Conference registrants were able to meet both McKesson product management and representatives from complimentary solution providers in the 2007 PSC. InSight was proud to deliver a PSC environment that was large enough to be of value to attendees, but small enough to foster quality customer engagement and product demonstrations.
Networking Highlights
The ability to network to build new friendships and reunite with old friends provides tremendous value to the InSight Membership. In 2007, this was no exception, where attendees had multiple opportunities to share best practices, creative solutions to current IT problems, and develop connections that will be utilized throughout the year to overcome the daily challenges of meeting patient needs. Our camaraderie was in full voice and dance during our Friday Night Event: Oktoberfest. All InSight attendees ate, drank and danced the night away celebrating another successful event. InSight proudly recognizes McKesson for sponsoring this evening and all their efforts to make the event a tremendous success.
InSight Annual Meeting of Membership
On Saturday morning, 10.20.07, InSight's Board of Directors presided over the Annual Meeting of InSight membership that shared with the attendees the work that was done over the past year. This highlighted our organization's growth over the previous fiscal year as well as approving the minutes from the 2006 meeting of membership without revision. At the meeting the membership voted to approve a bylaw change which created a new Board position, Vice President – Membership, to the InSight Board of Directors. Previously, there had only been the Director of Membership position. As InSight’s membership continues to grow as new groups are brought into InSight, it was decided that there was a need for a second position.
Annual Conference Proceedings Now Available
The conference proceedings are now available online for you to view with the Session Proceedings search tool.
This tool enables you to search for sessions in multiple categories through keywords, session track and/or speaker name. Only registered attendees are capable of accessing this by using their InSight member log-in and password.

1. This tool is for registered attendees only. You will need to use the member log-in and password that has been given to you in order to access this.*
2. Only presentations provided by the speakers are available. InSight has posted every presentation we have been given.
3. No handouts will be supplied at the InSight 2007 Annual Conference. Any hard copies will need to be printed out by the attendee from the Proceedings tool.
All presentations will soon be available after the conference to those that did not register or attend.
