Most InSight operating committees include representatives from McKesson. These representatives ensure that the efforts of the committee create value for both organizations and do not operate in violation of either organization's policies. The 2005 InSight Annual Conference Planning Committee (CPC) played a critical role in InSight's operations. The McKesson representatives to this committee were Jane Gleason, Director of Tradeshows and Events, and Lee Mann, Vice President, Marketing Services. The CPC established the financial and operational obligations of both InSight and McKesson far in advance of the event. Effective partnership with McKesson was evident in the 2005 CPC.
McKesson sponsored the 2005 InSight Annual Conference Friday evening receptions and party. This contribution was appreciated by InSight and the event attendees. The receptions and party were tremendously successful!
This year, McKesson worked to provide InSight with customer facility information. This confidential information is in compliance with InSight's Policies and will be utilized for the sole purpose of further increasing InSight membership.
Channels between InSight's Board of Directors and McKesson's leadership are open. In April, 2005, McKesson's President, Pam Pure, hosted the Board of Directors for a day at McKesson's Alpharetta, Georgia headquarters. At that time, Pure reviewed the InSight 2005-2007 Strategic Plan, providing constructive feedback. The Board of Directors received briefings from multiple McKesson group executives.
An aspect of InSight's strategic plan is to expand awareness of InSight among healthcare IT Chief Information Officers (CIOs). McKesson has contributed to this plan in multiple ways and through a variety of activities including:
- Marketing InSight during the McKesson Executive Retreats
- Inviting InSight leadership to HIMSS-related events featuring CIOs
- Including InSight's President on the judge panel for McKesson's VIP Awards
- Hosting a CIO roundtable and dinner on the day prior to commencement of the Annual Conference.
InSight is appreciative of these efforts, which will result in a greater and more accurate understanding of InSight among this segment.
V3 was launched in 2004 to help InSight's members appreciate the value of partnerships regarding McKesson implementations. In 2005 McKesson's underwriting contributions helped InSight to publish Digitizing Healthcare, a special insert within Hospitals & Health Networks and Most Wired magazines. Digitizing Healthcare featured examples of innovative solutions that are making healthcare safer and more efficient. InSight appreciates the efforts of Jay Deady and Teresa DeFranks
In summary, InSight's Officers and Directors are proud of the strategic partnership in place with McKesson. There is consensus among the Board of Directors that in 2005, the partnership operated at its highest level of productivity in all time and feel confident that this will only strengthen and tie progresses.
