The Vision, Voice and Value of McKesson Customers – that is InSight. Founded in 1998, InSight is the independent users group for McKesson customers. InSight continuously works with McKesson on issues pertinent to the healthcare technology industry.
The InSight Board of Directors has worked diligently to implement a dynamic Strategic Plan through 2007. The plan outlines the goals and objectives necessary to bring InSight to the next level:
- InSight will create an operational foundation that supports all activities and protects the long-term viability of the organization.
- InSight will develop new material, methods and products which support McKesson Provider Technologies offerings, to meet the needs of the membership.
- InSight and McKesson will establish appropriate forum(s) for meaningful collaboration resulting in actionable product influence.
InSight’s strategic initiatives allow the organization to be the industry-leading source of customer-led advocacy, communication and education regarding McKesson Provider Solutions.
In 2005 InSight initiated policies and procedures to ensure InSight’s financial viability and growth long-term. Through this, the organization has committed itself to identifying new streams of revenue; increasing the value and profit of the Annual Conference and maintaining 50% of the total annual operating budget in financial reserve at all times.
In 2005 InSight and McKesson strengthened their partnership with McKesson through the formation of a Resolution of Strategic Partnership. This document is to be reviewed annually and revised whenever necessary, in it, McKesson and InSight agree to work together on production deadlines and communications related to the Annual Conference; the Board of Directors and McKesson meet annually at a minimum and InSight Directors respond to McKesson's request for support when need be. This agreement makes InSight and McKesson accountable to the members. Without partnership and agreement, InSight cannot fulfill our mission of being a community of individuals and companies that drive collaboration between one another and with McKesson to maximize value for all.
Another reason why InSight exists is to increase members’ value to their organizations and to the healthcare industry. By sharing experiences and best practices in the use of IT in our facilities, the value of what members and their organizations can do is infinite. This message was outlined and communicated to CIO’s through a media buy in Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine. The goal of this program was to communicate the value and opportunities that exist by becoming a member of InSight.
At the 2005 InSight Annual Conference, InSight members communicated and shared knowledge with each other to learn new and innovative techniques and to inspire other healthcare professionals who use McKesson solutions. This communication and knowledge sharing takes places in 350+ education sessions and with business partners who exhibit in the Product Solution Center. Additionally attendees were also able interact and gain knowledge from our V3 partners during a special vendor track session. InSight’s V3 partners, Intel, Dell, SearchAmerica and Oracle support InSight year round.
Of all the things that InSight accomplished this year, we should all be proud of the donation InSight and McKesson made to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. This hurricane and others this season struck a number of our member’s facilities and homes. InSight donated $1,000 to each McKesson customer facility affected by Hurricane Katrina, an amount McKesson generously agreed to match.
We have accomplished so many things this year that it is often hard to imagine how much more we will achieve in 2006. Through your continued dedication to InSight and our strategic partnership with McKesson we have much to look forward to.
