In 2005, the Membership Committee met 12 times to discuss awareness, recognition, recruitment and retention of InSight’s core interest—its membership. The Committee’s objective is to promote InSight to eligible parties and assist members in understanding the purposes, benefits and goals of the organization.
The Membership Committee consists of Tammy Inglis-Drew (Chair), Cyndi Jones, Ruth Schleyer, Cheryl Tira, Janice Snow, Nancy Dean, Janeen Cook (McKesson Liaison), Dena Beard (Staff) and Tracy Schorle (Staff). The Membership Committee convenes via conference calls the second Wednesday of every month.
Early on in the year, the Membership Committee committed to aligning with InSight’s strategic goals. To increase awareness of the organization, the Committee gave both members and non-members access to the online discussion forums, installed marketing materials in McKesson’s training facilities, issued member surveys and is currently developing an informational brochure. The Committee will be recruiting new members at the upcoming HIMSS Conference, supplementing its already successful Recruit-A-Member campaign. Additionally, the Committee decided to recognize outgoing Board members with a free membership certificate to give to a non-member of his/her choice. The Committee was also pleased to see through the development of online membership forms, a key factor in member retention. Currently, the Committee is discussing CIO oriented marketing initiatives, a new member mentor program, welcome packets and expanding the reach of the online discussion forums.
This year, InSight saw a 10% increase in membership, with over 135 new members.
