President's Message - November 2007

Greetings,

As we reflect on 2007, we should all in different ways see success in our own professional growth, amongst our teams, and ultimately within our facilities and hospitals.  Looking to 2008, it’s important we take key learnings and apply them to future strategies.  Equally as important, it’s critical we have the tools, resources and knowledge base in place to position us for growth and success in the coming year.

It’s clear there’s a lot happening with InSight, and for those who already see first-hand where we as a community provide value to one another, it’s time we secure our memberships for 2008.

As you consider membership renewal, I’d like to highlight just a couple of the new programs and exciting developments in store for InSight members in 2008.

In addition to our flagship annual conference, InSight will be putting focus on creating year-round membership value that facilitates access to our greatest asset ─ one another.  The programs we’re building and enhancing will afford us more online collaboration, additional businesss-relevant online resources, and virtual learning opportunities.

What’s the engine that will drive these improvements?

In January 2008, InSight will launch its new and improved Web site. Members of the community will enjoy a restructured Strategic Enhancement Process, updated discussion forums and improvements to functionality, navigation and usability.  Great efforts are being made so we all can make optimal use of the InSight Web site.  I thank the InSight Web site Committee for all of their efforts in making this happen.

In addition to our revamped Web site, we will be rolling out more eLearning opportunities in 2008 than ever before.  Following a successful program in 2007, the CIO Forum Web Series will begin once again in 2008.
The 2008 CIO Forum Webcast series, will be composed of eight Webcasts starting in February and extending through September leading up to the CIO Forum at the InSight 2008 Annual Conference, which will take place September 24-27 in Grapevine, Texas.

Series topics will span relevant CIO-related issues covering a wide breadth of topics from best-business practices…to new technologies…to improving work environments just to name a few.  Exact dates and topics will be released when they’re available.

While I’ve highlighted just a couple of our new offerings for next year, I’m delighted to note that our market research study results will also be available in 2008.  I’m excited about the results of this study as they will help identify the business needs of the greater McKesson customer community.  Results of this study will support future program development efforts; we’ll keep you posted as we evaluate these results in the first quarter of 2008.

During the next few months, I urge each of you to think to the future and not only secure your own membership, but encourage your fellow members to renew as well.

Our growth should be measured by the value we as an organization bring to the McKesson customer community. Commit to continued improvement to our industry, and renew your InSight membership now through February 1, 2008.  Remember, if you renew before February 1, 2008, you renew at a reduced rate.  I know I’ll be saving my organization dollars by securing my membership renewal early.  I encourage all of you to do the same.

Thank you for your anticipated support!
