President's Message - February 2007
Greetings!
One of my goals as InSight President is to maintain operational transparency between the membership and the Board of Directors. Simply put, I want you to have a very clear understanding of the new initiatives being introduced in 2007 and the challenges that our organization must overcome. This also means keeping you well up-to-date on the 2007 Strategic Plan.
Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the Board of Directors’ retreat in Broomfield, Colorado. During this time significant progress was made establishing our Strategic Plan and I would like to share with you some of the ideas discussed. First, InSight is well aware of our challenges. We are facing the challenge that all user groups endure: membership growth. In 2007, InSight will need to increase the awareness of our value and mission with the McKesson customer base and leadership. In addition, InSight’s goal is to devise a means to draw in participants of the user groups of recent McKesson acquisitions. While growth will be a significant target in 2007, InSight is searching for ways to develop a year-round membership platform that is supported by the McKesson leadership, and develop a standardized process that will unite our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) with the McKesson Liaisons and Leadership. Finally, InSight will create programs that provide alternate revenue streams outside of the Annual Conference.
The challenges and goals outlined above are certainly daunting. However, I am sure you will agree that it is necessary to meet these as an organization to remain relevant and exciting to current and prospective members. To me, the Board retreat revealed that although hard work lies ahead, it carries the promise of plenty of great programs. In 2007, InSight will focus on creating and implementing programs that encourage increased volunteer activity. The organization also is developing ways to increase awareness by better utilizing InSight products and services and increasing revenue streams via regional user group events. The InSight Web site is currently being evaluated for short-term and long-term ways to maximize its potential as a source for all of our information, and to serve as a platform for year-round community building.
The coming months will prove to be a critical time for InSight. The Board of Directors has identified several opportunities where our organization can grow and we all look forward to honing in on these areas. The support of our membership is never taken for granted and the purpose behind this Strategic Plan is to enhance your InSight experience. I look forward to sharing more information regarding this Strategic Plan as things begin to unfold and implementation begins. I also look forward to having discussions with you regarding ways to grow InSight’s profile.
