A Road Map is a Driving Force for Success
There's nothing worse than having to drive somewhere and you don't have directions—it is confusing, scary and frustrating. In order to arrive at your destination, you need a plan—a road map to chart your ways.
We all need “street signs,” or directions, to help guide us along as we explore beyond our every-day boundaries. This is especially true when deciding whether or not to volunteer, assume a leadership position or advance within your profession. Broadening your professional scope can be scary, albeit extremely rewarding.
Our mission states: InSight exists to provide valuable information and experiences to customers of McKesson Provider Technologies, so that patient safety, accuracy, efficiency and workplace satisfaction are maximized.
To make sure our goal of fulfilling this mission is met, it is pertinent that a road map is implemented to assure that we all follow the same course and have a solid understanding of where our association is headed. If you would like to become involved with a SIG or other leadership role within InSight, please know that we have mapped out a clear and guiding path to your success. This map is indicative of InSight's strategic plan.
To be sure our guiding principles stay fresh; planning will continue to occur behind the scenes. Most recently, you the members completed a survey that identified your membership needs from InSight. You identified the things you valued most about our organization and suggested ideas to help us grow. With all of the fresh feedback coming in, the Board of Directors decided it was time to revisit InSight's strategic plan. Our goal was to take all of your wonderful responses, and create a revised plan to best reflect your current needs and interests. Our organization is growing everyday, and in order to maintain our high standards of excellence as a user group, we felt strongly that we could improve by redirecting InSight's “road map.”
As you read this, an extensive follow-up is being conducted by staff at our headquarters. Details are forthcoming, and I'm confident there will be many positive improvements, including mandates to:
- Expand member benefits and services
- Include the quality and degree of product influence we have with McKesson
- Ensure our organization creates an operational foundation that allows us to deliver results in a timely and efficient fashion
Ultimately, our goal is to make certain your member needs are met and your expectations are surpassed. Coming out of our Board meeting, I'm energized about what lies ahead for InSight. Please remember that this is your organization. We have to know what you want to take away from it. Please reach out to me at anytime to share your thoughts, I can be reached at jonesc@slhn.org .
