Revisiting InSight's Strategic Plan
The wind is a bit crisper, the temperature requires an extra layer of clothing and the leaves are turning. The fall season is upon us, and with the bulk of the year gone it serves as a great time to reflect on past months. It also is an excellent opportunity to look forward to finishing the year on a positive note and building momentum for the New Year.
Earlier in the year I discussed the importance of implementing a road map to guide an organization as it maintains excellence and broadens the value it adds to members’ everyday lives. Road maps also serve to remind staff that it is crucial to think of fresh ways to deliver this value each year.
While it inventing new ways to energize an organization each year seems to be a daunting task, it is a necessary to avoid becoming average. As I reflect on the statistics relating to our membership and the numbers of you who give of yourself in volunteer roles, I am convinced that this is worthwhile to constantly reinvigorate our guiding principles. Our obvious goal is to make improvements in all areas of the organization. There are, however, a few key initiatives that I would like to highlight for you:
-
Member benefits are always being improved. It has never been easier to renew or become an InSight member. We offer online renewal, several membership packages and new ways to reach out to fellow members. The new InSight Web site has a directory to find people of similar background and interests and a means to update your own profile.
-
Our strategic partnership with McKesson continues to reward both sides. Everyday brings a chance to deliver to you the vision, voice and value of McKesson products. This was quite prominent at the 2005 InSight Annual Conference where the educational sessions were more in depth and customer driven than ever before. Many sessions were led by McKesson staff and provided attendees with the tools needed to progress along their own personal road maps. The Product Solution Center (PSC) once again was the premier place to discover the latest products and services from McKesson and our other business partners.
-
InSight wants to deliver operational excellence. Certainly the desire to transmit information to our members in a timely and efficient fashion is an ever evolving process. Over the past months we have upgraded our Web site to be more user friendly, sent out exciting and informative emails and executed a highly beneficial conference. In the future InSight will search for means to not simply relay pertinent industry news and McKesson product information, but create news for our audience.
Our goal will forever be to surpass your expectations. InSight remains a vital and growing organization. Feel free to take a moment during your busy day to send me your thoughts and suggestions. I can be reached at jonesc@slhn.org.
