President's Message - December 2005 NewsLink

Enhancing the InSight Experience in 2006

Cyndi Jones

I would like to take a moment and acknowledge the passing of a wonderful person and a truly dedicated member of the InSight family. Emily A. Nudelman, former InSight President, and most recently Vice President of Finance, died suddenly at the age of 55 on 11.21.05. Our thoughts are with her family as they cope with this loss during the Holiday Season. Emily was a driving force on the InSight board, and for 28 years dedicated her career to Providence Health System in Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the Nursing Education Fund at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Click here to make a donation.

December is a month when giving to others becomes second nature. Smiles are easily found, office parties are in full swing, and the New Year is right around the corner. Each month we stress how critical volunteers are to InSight and I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to ask that you think of those less fortunate at this time of year, and how volunteering in a variety of ways can add value to so many lives in your area. InSight grew exponentially in 2005 because our volunteers worked tirelessly to grow our organization by helping many others realize how rewarding membership in InSight can be.

We have also continued to enhance benefits to our membership. Retaining our loyal members and increasing our size are of equal importance. InSight continues to offer increasingly valuable networking opportunities, Discussion Forums and other educational opportunities. These benefits create instant value to you and to your organization. Additionally, the combination of expanding your knowledge, skill set and expanding your horizons through volunteering can aid you to advance professionally.

As this will be my final message as President of InSight, I'd like to offer my sincerest appreciation for your commitment to this organization, and the abundance of supportive emails that I receive. I pledge to be a very active Chair of the Nominations Committee. And of course, it is never too early to send recommendations for volunteers!

I am sure that InSight will continue to prosper over the coming year. Our relationship with McKesson continues to grow and evolve and this is wonderful for our organization. I have enjoyed working with you and, as always, your thoughts and suggestions are welcomed. I can be reached at jonesc@slhn.org.

Happy Holidays to you and your family. And best of luck in the New Year!
