Pre-Conference Workshops

Pre-Conference Workshops are offered to complement the 2007 InSight Annual Conference. Workshops are optional and are not included in the conference registration fee.

All Pre-Conference Workshops take place from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm on Wednesday, October 17, and have a separate registration fee of $235.

TRENDSTAR Optimization
TRENDSTAR Customers: This educational session is designed to help you achieve the knowledge and tools needed to maximize the value of your TRENDSTAR system. Learn how other organizations are taking full advantage of TRENDSTAR to advance their performance management initiatives. TRENDSTAR customers and McKesson staff discuss “best practices” and how you can apply them. By attending, you’ll enjoy an interactive workshop and leave with tools you can implement upon returning to the office. A special reception for attendees provides an opportunity to network and exchange ideas with other TRENDSTAR users.

Guide to Implementing GUI Admissions
This workshop focuses on the Star GUI Admissions build. Attendees see first-hand how Munson Medical Center designed their Custom GUI Admission forms, including tips on how the Forms Editor functions. Learn what tables need to be updated in the build and in which order to do so. The workshop also reviews the processes of how Munson Medical Center maintains the Master PC and GUT functions. Implementation plan and education materials are also shared during this workshop.

Horizon Physician Portal Development Kit
In this session, developers learn the techniques to begin developing their own custom solutions within the Physician Portal. The presenters give a condensed version of the Horizon Clinicals Development Kit training where users focus on learning what is available out of the box with the Vignette, the Portal Application software, how to create their own custom portals and how to integrate third party applications into the Portal. Attendees receive code examples and review code throughout the presentation to see step-by-step instruction on how to achieve successful customized portals.

PFM Month End Balancing from Beginning to End
Learn to walk, talk and understand your numbers for Month End Balancing. Learn to create reports that will help you verify your numbers and solve your differences. Hear tips that will help you save time in balancing and help your hospital save money overall. This session covers the entire process from preparing to completing/solving any differences in Month End Balancing.

Star Vista SQL QRE/OCBC/JDBC
This session gives you an in-depth view of QRE 4.6, ODBC and JDBC functions and benefits. Attendees view the configuration of the server that allows the ODBC/JDBC connectivity and explores functions such as automated assistance while typing, drag/drop or copying from the data dictionary, color-coded syntax editor, how to automate your PC downloads using Image Inspector and Download Agent and much more. The session also covers the ODBC and JDBC drivers and how you can use ODBC features which will let you use Windows applications directly to access your data.

Series RPGLE\ILE Usage and WebView Technical Overview
This session gives you a more in-depth view of the Series standards for RPGLE and ILE concepts usage. How does Series implement ILE to technically and functionally leverage the technology? Current programming standards are reviewed and examples of column based and free format source are explained. This session also provides a technical overview of the Series WebView product. Information is given on how it is implemented and how it may be changed to handle custom modifications.

Crystal Reports for PMM, PFM and HSM
This is intended to be a hands-on workshop. Attendees should bring a laptop loaded with Crystal Reports version 8 or 9, MS SQL and a copy of their own database (or the sample crystal database). The presenter demonstrates: 1) Modifying existing reports; 2) Creating new reports; 3) Adding 'Top N' analysis to a report; 4) Grouping and Sorting of data; and 5) Drill Downs/Hiding data. The presenters are most familiar with PMM/PFM/HSM, but the content is expected to be relevant to most applications of Crystal Reports.
