Hello Brian Jones! Here is what is happening.

From the President

InSight, like McKesson and its products, grows as the demand for peer collaboration becomes greater.

To me, the value of InSight is built on collaboration and opportunity. Whether you're a volunteer leader within the organization, a member, or partner, you're all afforded equal and multiple points of access to one another. Through InSight programs, we can all find different ways to reach out to one another depending on our needs, our training budgets and our schedules.

It's clear to me that my level of participation only facilitates and helps me maximize the products I interface with everyday to excel in my own job. I see opportunity in all of the collaborative programs offered and can appreciate having the flexibility to choose from the program that makes the most sense to me.

Volunteer Spotlight

Senior Analyst, Information Technology, Methodist Medical Center

InSight Volunteership (5 years): Vice Chair and SIG Chair of the Passport SIG; Revenue Cycle Council Chair; InSight Speaker; Task Force Group Member

InSight Membership: 6 Years

  1. Can you explain what volunteering with (or being a member of) InSight has done for you personally?
I have enjoyed my involvement with InSight in several ways. It has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of new people on both a personal level and in a networking capacity and has helped me increase my knowledge of different McKesson products.

  2. Can you explain how volunteering with (or being a member of) InSight has helped your organization?
The opportunity to interact with McKesson liaisons also has been very interesting and beneficial. These positions also have given me input into the sessions that are presented at Insight. The networking opportunities are probably the biggest benefit to my organization. It has not only been great knowing that other customers are experiencing the same issues as we are, but has been very helpful in resolving those same issues.

  3. Can you provide an example of how InSight has brought you and/or your company measurable value?
I have been a part of the Methodist IT team since 1998 and was the analyst for STAR Medical Records implementation. I have learned a lot from InSight members through networking during and outside of the conference that has given me tips on how to make things work better for a successful implementation process. InSight conferences have always given us up-to-date information about our products and what to expect in the next upgrade. We've been able to decide on some of the purchases of new products by spending time at the Product Solution Center at conference. When we had opportunities to talk to other vendors regarding product and integration challenges (like OPTIO, Micromedex), we met with the staff of those vendors at conference. Most of the education and training for our IT implementation team has been either through InSight conferences or Webinars. The enhancement of the Website also helps us a lot in our networking. The new and improved enhancement process gives us more voice in prioritizing and reviewing enhancements needed for our products.

  4. What excites you most about the future of InSight?
I'm most excited about the idea of this huge group of people working toward the same goal to help improve McKesson products and learn about best practices.

InSight Volunteers Needed!

InSight is happy to announce that we have joined into a partnership with the McKesson Integration Advisory Council (IAC). As CSEs (Customer Satisfaction Enhancements) are categorized as Integration issues by InSight, SIG Volunteers are being sent to the IAC for review.

From the last Enhancement cycle, 8 CSEs that were marked as Integration Issues are now being addressed by the IAC with the cooperation of InSight. If you are a current InSight member and would like to take part in a focus group on behalf of InSight, please fill out and submit an Agreement to Serve form. We are very excited about this new partnership and the new value that is being delivered to you, our members.

Please contact InSight HQ with questions.

McKesson VIP Awards

Vision. Innovation. Performance. These are the hallmarks of McKesson customers that receive the VIP Award. Each year, the VIP Award is presented to McKesson Provider Technologies customers that use information technology to achieve substantial results in the areas of quality, safety and efficiency.

The winners are selected by a panel of independent judges after two rounds of judging using a point scale. Each winner receives a $10,000 grant for its foundation, a beautiful hand-blown glass trophy, and publicity at McKesson events and with local and industry press.

For 2007, three winners will be selected from the VIP Classic category and one in the Medication Management category. If merited, the judges will also select an additional "VIP Innovator Award" from among all of the VIP Award entries. Keep an eye out for the winners to be announced this May.

Calling All CIOs

I have the pleasure of serving as this year's Chair of the CIO Task Force and am happy to report that things are in full swing. The Task Force is focused on heightening the awareness of CIOs as to Insight and the benefits we provide to them and their organizations.

In addition to education and networking opportunities that will accompany this year's Annual Conference, the Task Force is in the process of finalizing plans to increase the participation of CIOs in InSight year-round and the InSight Board of Directors has determined this a critical strategic initiative that will produce increased value to overall membership. The Task Force hopes to provide the best possible education to CIOs and get continuous feedback on what information they find most valuable. Some key programs currently underway include:

  1. Increasing opportunities for information exchange between CIOs and McKesson Executive Leadership
  2. The development of yearlong Webinars by McKesson business partners and InSight V3 partners specifically geared toward CIOs
  3. Creating opportunities for CIOs to meet (virtually) on a month-to-month basis to share experiences and best practices
  4. Creating a robust agenda for the CIO Forum at the Insight Annual Conference
  5. Reaching out to each McKesson CIO to personally get them involved in InSight.

I am pleased to be joined on the CIO Task Force with Chuck Christian, Sandy Ott, Rick Warren, and Dave Walczak. If you have ever wondered what you are missing by not being more engaged with InSight or would be like more information, we invite you to contact any of us to discuss our goals further.
