From the President |
|
With the growth of McKesson comes the growth of
InSight, and from that, support and growth of our profession and
industry.
As you all know, the InSight 2007 Annual
Conference is fast approaching and there is no better representation
of our continued growth and sharing than this event. October will be
here sooner than you know and once again members will be able to
exchange information and knowledge in a way that's unparalleled in
our industry.
|
|
The success of past conferences is a benchmark for
future conferences and I have no doubt this year's will not only
meet, but exceed expectations. It is truly a sight to watch various
SIGs, CIOs, clinicians, IT professionals and physicians sharing best
practices, dialoging about what works and what doesnt, and learning
about future developments in McKesson software solutions.

Improve Medication Safety and Pharmacy Workflow
with McKesson's Horizon MedComm-Rx |
|
Now McKesson customers can use a new automated
imaging transmission system to help eliminate lost orders and reduce
the time pharmacists spend processing medication orders from the
nursing station. Preliminary tests have shown the Horizon
MedComm-Rx™ system can cut processing time by up to 90 percent and
can dramatically cut medication-order turnaround time to less than 5
minutes.
Using Horizon MedComm-Rx™, nurses can scan or fax
physician orders directly into the pharmacy work queue. Using
bar-code recognition, the system automatically associates an
incoming order with a patient profile. Pharmacists are able to view
the order images and process them according to priority. If
clarification is needed, annotation tools, routing and the ability
to return orders will allow for efficient and documented
follow-up.
Horizon MedComm-Rx™ has the scalability and
workflow to meet the order entry needs of single and multi-hospital
installations. The system has been shown to support more than 10,000
orders per day. Shannon Medical Center, a 400-bed facility in San
Angelo, Texas, recently completed a beta evaluation of the
technology. For more details, read the press release.
