1. Can you explain what volunteering with (or being a member of) InSight has done for you personally?
   Working with other volunteers and speakers to set up the sessions has been a valuable experience. The process of working with McKesson and others to select topics and speakers provides a unique insight (pun intended) into how others are successfully addressing many of the technical and organizational challenges we all face. Also, working with the speakers is a great opportunity for networking. Best of all, I’ve made some good friends along the way.
   
2. Can you explain how volunteering with (or being a member of) InSight has helped your organization?
   Working closely with users from other hospital systems and McKesson has allowed my organization to benefit from the experiences of others. We can often see what did or did not work out for others and why. We have picked up tips and tricks to solve problems, gain efficiencies, avoid pitfalls and develop more realistic plans and expectations.
   
3. Can you provide an example of how InSight has brought you and/or your company measurable value?
   We were able to work with McKesson and other users on enhancements that improved the speed, capabilities and ultimately effectiveness of Horizon Business Insight.
   
4. What excites you the most about the future of InSight?
   As an industry and as individuals, we face increasing challenges and opportunities. Though InSight has traditionally been a conference where we share ideas once a year, the value of working together as users and with McKesson to meet the challenges of the future has never been greater. It won't be easy, but I believe that InSight can help us all work together more effectively on an ongoing basis.

The CIO Forum offers an opportunity to take part in a peer-driven program while at the InSight 2007 Annual Conference. Some of the sessions to take place on Wednesday, October 17 include: McKesson Business Update, CIO Survey & Process Improvements and McKesson Road Map for ER 10 and Beyond. Please remember to vote in the 2007 Elections for President Elect, Secretary, Director of Membership, Director of Enhancements, Director of Education and five open Nominating Committee Positions. Elections are open until August 8, 5:00 p.m. CDT. The results of the elections will be conveyed to the membership on August 29. Vote now.

Submit your nomination for the Tom Utley and Member Achievement Awards. The deadline for submitting Tom Utley Award nominations is Wednesday, August 1 and the deadline for submitting Member Achievement Award nominations is Saturday, September 1. Three InSight member organizations, along with two other healthcare organizations, were just honored by McKesson when they were announced as the 2007 VIP Award Winners. The 2007 VIP Award program honors five healthcare organizations for their vision, innovation and performance in using McKesson’s information technology solutions to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of healthcare. The following are the three InSight member organizations that were given this honor:

• Baptist Healthcare System
• Saint Agnes Medical Center
• University Health Network

The KLAS Top 20: 2007 Mid-Year Report is out, and once again McKesson's broad portfolio of solutions has made a strong showing. McKesson solutions are ranked in the top three for 24 KLAS categories in this year's report, as compared to 16 categories the year before. The results represent more than a 60 percent jump in McKesson's presence as a category leader. Category leaders in the report are:

• Paragon® hospital information system's clinicals and financials in the Community HIS category
• Horizon Medical Imaging™ digital imaging solution in the Community Clinical Ancillary Solutions category
• The combination of Pathways Materials Management™/Pathways Financial Management™ in the Financial/ERP category .
• Horizon Lab™ in the Laboratory category
• Horizon Cardiology Reporting™ in the Cardiology Reporting and Documentation category
• Pathways Compliance Advisor™ in the General Market Segment category
