NEW in 2007 NewsLink will feature a profile of an
InSight volunteer. This month we will focus on Nancy
Goessler, Lead Business System’s Analyst from St. Luke’s
Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Nancy most recently served 4 years on the InSight Board of
Directors as Director and VP of Education. During this time she was
heavily involved in the InSight Annual Conference. After serving 6
years as a Volunteer she came on the board as InSight was looking
for a new management company, and took on the challenge of ensuring
the transition was smooth. Nancy has enjoyed working with McKesson
Liaisons and sharing with them the customers’ perspective.
Previously, she had hands on development of sessions as a SIG
Education Chair, and then facilitated the STAR Council (10 SIGS)
with their Education session development.
Her advice to new volunteers would be to anticipate that the
first year will always be the hardest. She offered that it takes a
while to get used to the process and the tools. However, once new
volunteers have learned the “ropes,” things are much easier. Also,
she adds they get to meet so many great people, both other customers
and McKesson employees. It is very satisfying. She stressed that the
work is returned ten fold in contacts and information.
Nancy says, “I enjoyed every minute of my 10+ years as a
volunteer working in Education. It is almost like saying goodbye to
my family because you get close to those with whom you
work.”
