The Health Level Seven (HL7) CCOW Standard for context management creates a unique framework to provide caregivers with streamlined access to computer-based patient information. The CCOW Standard establixhes the basis for creating effective multi-application, multi-technology clinical desktop. Specifically, this standard defines the protocol for securely synchronizing-"linking"-diverse health care applications at the clinical desktop so they work together as though they are part of a common, coordinated suite from the user's perspective. Context management capabilities enable applications to inter-operate and coordinate informaation displays seamlessly based on the user's workflow.
In this presentaion, Mr. Campbell will discuss how context management can simplify access to computer-based information and intuitively coordinate multiple applications for the user. Mr. Campbell will also provide examples of how healthcare organizations are leveraging the HL7 CCOW Standard for context management today to enhance use of information systems, including Web and Windows-based technologies.
