President's Message - March 2009
For most, the weather is getting warmer but the economic climate remains the same. McKesson customers like us, like all other organizations, are tasked with maximizing our technology investments to create cost-savings and efficiencies; in some cases with fewer resources and leaner teams.
It’s evident that we’re all feeling the same pains. Clearly there are common areas that keep us all up at night. That’s why, more than any other year, I’m thankful this year’s Annual Conference taking place September 9-12 in Orlando, Florida is designed specifically so that we get direction from one another on optimizing our current McKesson applications and systems for greater return on our investments.
The event brings customers like you and me together with McKesson leaders, product managers and solution providers for: exchange on leading practices across products, technical levels and business needs; tools that will help us sharpen our skills to stay marketable, and personal contacts that will help us stay not only afloat but ahead as the year goes on.
Additionally, we’re looking at programming that will specifically address President Obama’s Economic Stimulus Package under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. We’re looking for sessions that provide our customer community clear direction on overall requirements for healthcare IT incentives, along with steps to achieve Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) and accelerate IT adoption. While we’re still in preliminary planning, we’ll continue to keep you informed on these topics as we solidify this content even more.
It’s no secret that we’re all conserving training dollars this year in one way or another. If you’re only budgeted for one training event this year, I strongly encourage you to mark your calendars today for InSight’s flagship event, not to mention McKesson’s leading customer-driven conference. Registration will open in early May but you can start having the discussions with your supervisors and staff now. And finally, I would like to welcome Theresa Meadows to our Board as our new Director of Membership. Theresa joins us from St. Vincent’s Health System in Alabama and has over 10 years of McKesson experience. We are all very excited to have her with us and look forward to her leadership.
