President's Message

Dear InSight Members,

For most, the weather is getting warmer but the economic climate remains the same. McKesson customers like us, like all other organizations, are tasked with maximizing our technology investments to create cost savings and efficiencies; in some cases with fewer resources and leaner teams.

It’s evident that we’re all feeling the same pains. Clearly there are common areas that keep us all up at night. That’s why, more than any other year, I’m thankful this year’s Annual Conference, taking place September 9-12 in Orlando, Florida is designed specifically so that we get direction from one another on optimizing our current McKesson applications and systems for greater return on our investments.

The event brings customers like you and me together with McKesson leaders, product managers and solution providers for: exchange on leading practices across products, technical levels and business needs; tools that will help us sharpen our skills to stay marketable, and personal contacts that will help us stay not only afloat but ahead as the year goes on.

North Kansas City Hospital: Marketing Online Services Boosts Cash

North Kansas City Hospital, MO, (NKCH) used the PatientCompass quick start marketing kit to promote its online payment service to its patients, and noticed an immediate jump in self-pay cash. RelayHealth offers PatientCompass customers marketing tools customizable with the hospital’s logo and contact information. Marketing materials and planning guides are at www.patientcompass.com. NKCH primarily credits the cash increase to the postcard mailing to patients with balances due. NKCH displays posters and provides brochures promoting the online business office at all points of patient access. Business cards with their online Web site are sent with every detailed bill to encourage patients to use its online services.

Knowledge Repository

InSight is working on a dynamic Knowledge Repository for its members in 2009. This tool will allow members to share best practices, tips, tricks, and other useful documents with each other. Look for its implementation in the coming months.


Performance Strategies: Improve Performance through Process and Culture Change

The topic of the latest issue of McKesson’s Performance Strategies e-magazine is Improve Performance through Process and Culture Change. The issue highlights customers who have been helped by McKesson’s Clinical Consulting Services team to improve clinical and financial performance by identifying current processes, performing a gap analysis against best practices and implementing improvements. Featured customers are: Northwest Community Healthcare, OhioHealth and Eisenhower Medical Center. The issue also features a Joint Commission Resources, Inc. expert and McKesson strategist Sarah Shillington, Vice President of McKesson’s Clinical Consulting Services.
