Communication has always been pinnacle to success but it’s now more critical than ever. In a down economy, our hospital and facility endurance is dependent on innovative ideas, competitive skill sets, cost-savings, and higher productivity. At a time when we’re challenged with being more ‘thrifty’ and creative in the ways we do business, under tighter budgets and in some cases leaner staffing, what are our best resources?
That’s easy….one another.
We all work across a number of McKesson products, at varying roles and career levels but we all share fundamental commonalities. It’s our jobs to optimize our technologies and create efficiencies within our hospital and facility environments for the betterment of healthcare. Whether you’re a nurse like myself, a programmer, analyst, system administrator or C-level executive, you rely on McKesson to help you do your job better. Collectively we’re a wealth of intellectual capital.

CIO Forum Update
|
|
The 2009 CIO Forum Webcast series, jointly presented by InSight and McKesson, with support from InSight's V3 Partners, will host eight webcasts starting in March and extending through October.
The webcasts are based on relevant CIO-related issues covering a wide breadth of topics from customer stories and best-business practices on topics such as improving work environments to new industry technologies. Webcasts are invitation-only, so registration information will be provided to CIOs in a dedicated email. Mark your calendars for the first webcast, Creating a Collaborative Imaging Environment, presented by Cisco on March 26, 2:00 pm EST. Additionally post-webcast surveys will provide you opportunity to share additional topics you would like to see covered in the future.
The Webcast series will lead up to the CIO Forum at the InSight 2009 Annual Conference, September 9-12, in Orlando, Florida. This forum, designed for CIOs, by CIOs, is a chance for top IT executives to hear McKesson’s strategic plan directly from its leadership.

Taking Advantage of the Healthcare IT Incentives in the Economic Stimulus |
| On February 17, President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. As part of this historic economic stimulus package, the government will invest more than $19 billion to accelerate the use of information technology by hospitals and physicians.
While it will take time to work through the details of the legislation and what’s required to qualify for funding, McKesson believes the incentives are significant enough that they could potentially affect hospital plans for physician alignment, implementing healthcare IT or completing IT projects.
